Meet The People

The Story

We are Sahajaat.

We met as individuals who wanted to be storytellers – Vinay, Prithwi and Amitabha. We ended up forming a unique team that has starkly diverse credentials and backgrounds but our passion & vision to bring forth a new language of cinema joins us.

Vinay and Prithwi come from traditional fields of education and corporate life; whereas Amitabha has been making short films and feature films, that have been screened and awarded multiple national and international awards over the years.

Our distinctive skills and a mutual creative vision gave birth to an offbeat platform for creating unique stories. Through this platform we want to give voice to the extraordinary stories of ordinary people that the mainstream cinema or television has failed to bring forward.

We strongly believe in the power of storytelling, and that every story has a unique place in the world. Our mission is to tell these stories, and to bring new characters to life, and to give them a voice.

Our focus is to explore lives of common people and narrate their endeavours through our stories. We want to convey tales of ordinary folks who are trying their level best to make it big in their respective fields even if they don’t have formal education or training, but still do heroic deeds every day just like regular folks do in real life situations.

We often see overtly simple, one-dimensional representation of characters and what they represent: good guys, bad guys, love interests… But there’s more to them than meets the eye! We believe that these characters have a lot more depth and multiple layers that need to be unwrapped prudently — and we want to bring this complexity to life on screen! We also aim to choose and represent production plots that are distinctive and unlike each other.

Sahajaat also plans to create opportunities and resources for deserving candidates in the field of filmmaking.
